Last year's challenge was great! Doing one sample a day was a very doable task. Why try to fix something that isn't broken? The challenge for 2014 will be the same. It would be great if I could have a more balanced assortment. As the samples arrive, I will try to keep a balanced approach to posting them. That wasn't the case in 2013. Last year I tried to do all of the samples from an individual as they arrived. Since most of the samples from the same area, there was an imbalance. I tried to correct that later in the year, but didn't succeed. 2013 was dominated by the west and east coast of the United States. Well, that's where the two big oceans are, and where most of the sand is found. Let's try to get the interior represented too. That's totally in your control. The quest to Turn the United States Purple still exists, but with a slightly different goal. I've given up trying to get ten samples for each state in one year. The colors on the states now reflect how many samples we have for the state. The goal is to get at least 25 samples per state. There is no time limit. I definitely want to see more from the Midwest. There must be sand somewhere in Kansas and Nebraska! Let the quests continue!!
