This could be a Miocene oyster from Calvert Cliffs, or it could be recent. We collected tons of these shells at the base of the cliff, and saw what looked like more of them still embedded in the wall. I'm going to take a chance and say that it's ancient, but I could be wrong. I couldn't find any reference to what type of oyster is found at Calvert Cliffs. All of the sites simply said "oysters." All of the shells are very thick and strong.
