LUNAR REGOLITH (SIMULATION), CINDER LAKE CRATER FIELD, ARIZONA |
SUNSET CRATER - Mike Sanchez Photograph |
This is all strictly a guess. The Apollo astonauts trained in the Cinder Lake Crater Field near Flagstaff in preparation for their missions. Samples of "lunar regolith" were created from the material found in this area, because it supposedly came close to duplicating what scientist expected the lunar regolith to resemble. I assume the sample was collected from that area. |

It is expressed as the ratio of the average radius of curvature of the edges or corners to the radius of curvature of the maximum inscribed sphere. The sphericity of a particle is: the ratio of the surface area of a sphere (with the same volume as the given particle) to the surface area of the particle. |
