As you can see from the size of the grains, this is not a sand sample. These are actually pebbles. I am showing two views of a rock (left and right) that Gary also included with the sample. The rock is very dense. It measures about 8 cm across at its widest points. |

The rock included with this sample was truly unique. The bottom (left) shows three different colors: grey, tan, and red. The top of the rock (right) is very different. The color is dark red and resembles a desert varnish. The sample is about 5 cm long at its widest pint. Click on the images for high resolution versions. |
