Calvert Cliffs is a special place. My teaching and fossiling buddy and I went there many years ago. The rule is you can pick up all of the specimens you want from the beach, but you can't take anything out of the cliffs. These two miocene scallop shells, Chlamys (Lyropecten) santamaria, are huge and very fragile. Luckily, we were there to save them from certain destruction!
