I collected these samples from Calvert Cliffs in Maryland. Chlamys (Lyropecten) santamaria is a Miocene scallop. As you can see from the scale the sample is huge! It also is very fragile. According to the rules at Calvert Cliffs, shells can only be retrieved from the beach, and not taken from the cliff itself. This is a very difficult rule to follow, but I did. One of these samples was just about to drop, so I considered that a save.
