WARA FORMATION, SOMEWHERE IN SAUDI ARABIA

This is probably my most unusual sand sample. It comes from a student teacher I had many years ago, probably in the early 1980's. He had gone to U. Mass. Boston, and had many of the same professors I had, and took exactly the same set of course. He wanted to be a teacher. Unfortunately, at that time in Massachusetts, there were massive layoffs happening because of a tax restructuring program, and no jobs existed. He answered an ad in a Boston paper from a Texas-based oil company. Little did he know, but the job was in Arabia! He signed on for two years starting as a well logger, and ending as the on-site geologist! The "sand" and the well core come from 2,000 down in the Wara Formation.
